GTBank transfer codes and charges

*737*1* sends to another GTBank account for ₦20, and *737*2* sends to other banks for ₦80, according to GTBank's 737 code list. *737*23# is a menu-based Quick Transfer if you'd rather not type the full string.

So the GT Bank code for transfer is really two codes. Sending ₦10,000 to a GTBank account: *737*1*10000*0123456789#. Sending the same amount to Access, UBA or any other bank: *737*2*10000*0123456789#. Amount comes before the account number, the opposite of UBA and Wema. Dial from the number registered with GTBank, then follow the prompts.

Transfers to other banks need extra authorisation: your 737 PIN, a hardware token, or the last four digits of your GTBank debit card. If the prompt asks for something you don't have, create a 737 PIN on *737*5# first. Keep the ₦80 fee in mind for frequent small payments to other banks. Paying a GTBank account costs ₦20.

GTBank Quick Credit code

*737*51*51# opens Quick Credit, GTBank's instant loan. Salary earners have a separate Salary Advance on *737*8*2#. Your loan balance is on *737*6*2#.

Authorising transfers without a debit card

For transfers to other banks, GTBank says you can authorise with your 737 PIN, a hardware token, or the last four digits of your debit card. If you have no card, create a 737 PIN on *737*5# and use that. GTBank's page doesn't explain how to get a token without a card, so ask a branch about a hardware token.

Blocking and other services

*737*911# blocks your account. *737*51*33# sends a six-month statement, and *737*20*BVN# links your BVN. If your account has gone dormant, *737*11# reactivates it from your registered number.
