UBA bank sort code and SWIFT code
UBA's CBN bank code is 033, used for transfers within Nigeria. Its SWIFT code is UNAFNGLA, used when money is sent to a UBA account from another country. Which one you need depends only on where the payment starts.

UBA sort code vs SWIFT code
033 is domestic. It tells Nigerian payment systems that the money is going to UBA, whether that's an instant NIP transfer or a slower NEFT payment.
UNAFNGLA is international. UBA's own guide to receiving money from abroad tells senders to use it. Senders paying in US dollars go through Citibank New York. Euro and pound payments go through Citibank London. If you're in Nigeria paying a UBA account, you never need the SWIFT code.
Where you'll be asked for 033
The 3-digit code identifies UBA as a bank, not a branch. You'll see it on manual transfer and payment forms, in the bulk payment files businesses upload to pay staff and suppliers, and in reconciliation reports, where it tells you which bank each payment went to. Everyday phone and app transfers fill it in for you when you pick the bank from a list.
Not the same as UBA's *919# code
*919# is what you dial on your phone to send money. 033 is what payment systems use to recognise UBA. Neither replaces the other.
UBA branch sort codes
Branch sort codes are longer and differ for every branch. We don't list them yet, because we haven't verified them from official sources. If a form asks for a branch sort code, ask your branch or check your bank's own documents.
